The Day of Your Divine Visitation Is Coming — Will You Be Ready?
There comes a time in every believer's life when heaven draws near—what the Bible calls a day of visitation. It is a moment when God moves in a powerful and transformative way. But the question is: How prepared are you for your day of visitation?
In Acts 1 and 2, the disciples were given a promise—the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. However, between the promise and its fulfilment lay a period of intentional waiting, prayer, and unity. Their preparation was not passive; it positioned them to receive divine power that changed the world forever.
Let’s explore how you can recognise and prepare for your day of visitation and what Scripture teaches about being spiritually ready.
What Is the “Day of Visitation”?
The phrase day of visitation appears in Luke 19:44, when Jesus weeps over Jerusalem, saying:
“They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognise the time of your visitation from God.” – Luke 19:44 (CSB)
A visitation from God is a season of divine encounter, where God steps in with purpose, power, and presence. It is a day that changes the trajectory of your life or the life of others. It can come as revival, answered prayer, healing, direction, or a shift in your spiritual calling. The tragedy Jesus describes is not that God did not visit—it’s that they were not ready.

The Disciples’ Preparation: A Blueprint for Us
After Jesus ascended, He told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the gift of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-5). They didn’t wait in idleness or distraction.
Instead:
They gathered in the upper room (Acts 1:13)
They devoted themselves to prayer (Acts 1:14)
They remained in unity (Acts 2:1)
Then suddenly…
“When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven...” – Acts 2:1-2 (NKJV)
Because they were prepared, the Holy Spirit came like a rushing wind, and the Church was born. When visitation meets preparedness, a miracle is born. What we do during the time of waiting is very important.
Are You Preparing for Your Visitation?
Too often, we want divine moments without divine preparation. But the truth is, God often moves in power where hearts are expectant, postured, and aligned with His will.
Here are the key steps to prepare:
1. Be in the Right Place (Obedience)
The disciples were where Jesus told them to be. Obedience positions us for visitation. If God has spoken to you, follow through. Do not leave the place of obedience until you receive the promise.
2. Be in Unity
Acts 2 emphasises that they were in one accord. Discord and division block spiritual flow. Forgive, reconcile, and walk in love.
3. Be in Prayer
Prayer is how we build intimacy with God and sensitivity to the Spirit. As 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.” The disciples were not just gathered in the upper room; they committed themselves to prayer and the study of scriptures.
4. Be Expectant
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Expectation creates a landing strip for the miraculous. Many times, we do not receive because we do not expect anything from God. Your expectation is proof that you believe in the promise. It is faith.
What Happens If You’re Not Ready?
Just like in Luke 19, many people miss their visitation because they’re too distracted, discouraged, or spiritually disengaged. Don’t let comfort or busyness rob you of what God wants to do in your life.
Jesus said:
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.” – Luke 12:35 (NIV)
Your preparation today determines your encounter tomorrow. And as you prepare, keep your eyes on the promise and price.
Encouragement for Today: Stay Ready
If you're in a waiting season, take heart—waiting is not wasting. God is preparing you for something bigger than you can imagine.
He still visits His people. He still fills, heals, revives, and sends. Will He find you prepared?
“Blessed is that servant whom his master will find doing so when he comes.” – Luke 12:43 (NKJV)
Prayer Points: Prepare Me, Lord
Lord, make me sensitive to the time of my visitation.
Help me remain in obedience, unity, and prayer.
Remove distractions that keep me from preparing for You. Help me to remain focused until I receive the promise.
Let my heart be expectant and my spirit aligned with Your will.
Visit me, Holy Spirit—revive me again.
Conclusion: Don’t Miss the Moment
The disciples didn’t know the exact hour of the outpouring, but they were ready. And when the moment came, their lives—and the world—were changed forever.
God still visits His people. The only question is: Will you be ready when He comes?
