Seeing Into the Supernatural: Bible Stories, Scriptures, and Prayers to Open Your Spiritual Eyes

Seeing into the Supernatural
Seeing into the Supernatural

Have you ever felt like there was more happening around you than what your natural eyes could perceive? Many believers sense there is a spiritual world, but few understand how to engage with it Biblically. Yet the Bible is full of moments where God opened people’s eyes to see what was happening behind the veil.

This post will take you into Bible stories, scriptural truths, and prayers that will help you grow in spiritual sight. Get ready because God wants to sharpen your spiritual vision.

Seeing into the Supernatural

1. The Invisible Is More Real Than the Visible

The Bible reminds us that the supernatural is not fantasy; it's a reality.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Behind every situation, every battle, and every breakthrough, the unseen realm is at work. The supernatural is where God moves, angels fight, prayers rise, and answers are released.

2. When God Opened Elisha’s Servant’s Eyes

One of the most powerful stories about seeing into the supernatural is found in 2 Kings 6.

An enemy army surrounded Elisha and his servant. The servant panicked, seeing only danger. But Elisha saw something entirely different.

2 Kings 6:16–17 (NIV)

“‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’And Elisha prayed, ‘Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.’Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

The army didn’t disappear. The danger didn’t change. But once the servant’s spiritual eyes opened, his understanding changed.

Many times, what appears to be defeat is actually a setup for God’s supernatural victory.

3. When Balaam’s Donkey Saw What Balaam Couldn’t

This story shows the danger of spiritual blindness.

Balaam was so consumed with his own plans that he couldn’t see the angel standing in his path. His donkey saw the angel, but he didn’t.

Numbers 22:31 (NIV)

“Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn…”

Notice this: sometimes animals can be more spiritually sensitive than humans who are distracted.

We must quiet ourselves to see what God is showing.

4. When Stephen Saw Jesus Standing

Moments before his death, Stephen saw into heaven.

Acts 7:55–56 (NIV)

“But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.”

Not sitting, standing. This was Jesus honouring Stephen’s faith and sacrifice. When you walk with God, He will open your eyes to see His glory even in the most difficult moments.

5. Jesus Heals Physical Sight and Spiritual Sight

Jesus came not only to open natural eyes but spiritual ones.

Matthew 13:16 (NIV)

“But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.”

Seeing is a blessing. Spiritual blindness is a burden. When Jesus healed the blind, it often symbolised a deeper spiritual awakening.

6. Supernatural Sight Requires Alignment

To see spiritually, your heart must be in the right place.

Psalm 119:18 (NIV)

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.”

This means:

  • Your Bible is your doorway into spiritual sight.

  • Revelation comes through the Holy Spirit.

  • Purity and obedience sharpen your discernment.

The more you walk with God, the clearer your spiritual vision becomes.

7. A Story to Stir Your Faith: The Midnight Warning

Imagine this:

It’s 12:37 AM. You’re asleep when a sudden heaviness wakes you. Not fear, but urgency.

You walk to your living room, unsure why, but something inside you says Pray.

As you kneel, you sense a presence, peaceful yet powerful.

You don’t see angels with your natural eyes… but your spirit knows they’re there.

Later the next day, you find out a family member avoided an accident, one that could have ended tragically.

You realise:

God woke you to intercede. You sensed what your natural eyes couldn’t see. That is spiritual sight.

This is how God trains your senses through nudges, impressions, dreams, Scriptures speaking loudly, and moments where you "just know."

8. Prophetic Vision: Seeing What God Wants to Reveal

Many believers assume that only prophets see visions. But the Bible says differently:

Acts 2:17 (NIV)

“Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

This promise is for today.

Seeing into the supernatural can happen through:

  • Visions

  • Dreams

  • Discernment

  • Revelation during prayer

  • Spiritual intuition

  • Word of knowledge

  • Angelic activity

  • Scripture suddenly coming alive.

9. How to Grow in Supernatural Sight

1️⃣ Stay in the Word

God uses Scripture to train your eyes.

2️⃣ Cultivate stillness

Silence sharpens the spirit.

3️⃣ Ask God to open your eyes

Like Elisha prayed for his servant.

4️⃣ Remove spiritual distractions

Unforgiveness, sin, noise, and fear fog your vision.

5️⃣ Pray in the Spirit

It heightens your sensitivity to God’s voice.

10. Prayers to See Into the Supernatural

Prayer 1: Open My Eyes

“Lord, open my spiritual eyes. Remove every veil. Let me see what you are doing around me. Sharpen my discernment and reveal Your presence in my daily life. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Prayer 2: Let Me See Like Elisha

“Father, give me the boldness to see beyond the natural. Just as You opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant, open mine to see angelic protection and spiritual activity.”

Prayer 3: Purify My Vision

“Lord, purify my heart so my vision may be clear. Remove fear, doubt, and distraction. Give me clarity and spiritual understanding.”

Prayer 4: Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit

“Holy Spirit, make me sensitive to Your voice, warnings, impressions, and guidance. Help me recognize what You are showing me.”

Prayer 5: Revelation and Insight

“God, fill me with revelation. Show me deep things, hidden things, and true things. Help me see with Kingdom eyes.”

Final Encouragement

You were not created to walk blindly. You are a spiritual being with spiritual senses, and God is eager to reveal His world to you. The more you seek Him, the clearer your vision becomes.

The supernatural is not far; it’s right here, waiting for you to see.
